The National Healthcare Interoperability Plan is being developed by the Australian Digital Health Agency to map a pathway to a more connected Australian health system and to support the implementation of digitally enabled models of care. The inability to easily share meaningful information between clinical systems is seen as a major barrier to using digital health to improve healthcare. Australian Genomics’ submission provided support for the interoperability principles and priority action areas, while also highlighting the need for genomic and health research data interoperability. The submission also outlined areas where Australian Genomics could be involved in progressing the plan.
