Genomic Medicine is currently revolutionising healthcare across the globe. Led by the internationally recognised paediatric physician, neurologist, and clinical geneticist Professor Kathryn North AM, this grand round seminar will explore what is being done to harness genomic technology on the local, national and international stage, separating real outcomes from the hype, and discussing how a collaborative ‘whole of systems approach’ is required to maximise patient outcomes.
Key note lecture:
- Professor Kathryn North AM: Genomics and the brave new world of personalised medicine: a global and local perspective.
Followed by perspectives from:
• Professor Jozef Gecz, Chair for the Prevention of Childhood Disability, the University of Adelaide and South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute.
• A/Professor Christopher Barnett, Head, Paediatric and Reproductive Genetics Unit at the Women and Children’s Hospital.
• Anne Baxendale, Senior Genetic Counsellor, Paediatric and Reproductive Genetics Unit at the Women and Children’s Hospital.
• The Bond Family, Founders of the Captain Courageous Foundation.
The seminar will conclude with a panel discussion on the opportunities and barriers to integrating genomics into clinical care.
