Summary
The ethical implementation of genomic technologies into mainstream healthcare practice must be informed by the societal acceptability of, and preferences about, genomic technologies. This will become particularly relevant in the application of predictive genetic/genomic screening at population scale. This project will undertake a quantitative public survey of societal preferences and opinions about genomic health interventions (e.g. health resource utilisation, accessibility and equity, privacy, data management), utilising a market research company to ensure a representative sample of participants. Project design will particularly seek to elicit the perspectives of Indigenous peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse Australians, marginalised groups, and younger people.
