One proposed change to the Standard was the introduction of the term ‘additional’ to describe “any finding that has clinical significance that was identified by the test but is not related to the request for testing. These were previously referred to as secondary or incidental findings or unsolicited findings”. An Australian Genomics project is reviewing evidence to provide recommendations about the appropriate terminology for findings unrelated to the request for testing, and so provided advice to NPAAC about the preliminary findings of this review.
